KWS Commits to Track the Killer Hyena After Tragic Incident in Juja


In a tragic incident early this morning, a woman was fatally attacked by a hyena in Juja South Estate while opening her food kiosk.
The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) responded promptly, dispatching the Deputy Director of Community Relations and Outreach Division, Mr. Abdi Doti, Senior Principal Veterinary Officer Dr. Bernard Rono, and a team from Oldonyo Sabuk National Park to the scene to offer support and assess the situation.
KWS extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and has pledged to expedite the compensation process. In addition, KWS has announced a second phase of the “Ondoa Fisi Juja” operation, set to commence tonight, to track and manage the problematic hyenas. Residents of Juja South Estate are urged to remain calm as KWS conducts a thorough search.
Recently, KWS conducted the “Ondoa Fisi” operation in Juja, which included an extensive anti-rabies vaccination drive and community engagement to prevent human-hyena conflicts.
