Kakamega County Assembly Goes Digital with E-Parliament System

The County Assembly of Kakamega has officially migrated from analog to a fully digital system for its plenary sessions, marking a major step in modernizing legislative processes.
Governor Fernandes Barasa on Tuesday launched the e-Parliament and Integrated Hansard System, aimed at enhancing the efficiency, accessibility, and transparency of parliamentary and legislative services.
Speaker James Namatsi hailed the move, noting that digitalization will improve openness and effectiveness in delivering the Assembly’s mandate.
Speaking during the launch, County Assembly Clerk Dr. Donald Keya Manyala emphasized that embracing technology is essential for driving development, terming it the next frontier for progressive governance.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by Bungoma Speaker Hon. Emmanuel Situma, Vihiga Speaker Hon. Chris Omulere, Bungoma Assembly Clerk Mr. Charles Wafula, among other distinguished guests.
The new system is expected to streamline legislative work, enhance record-keeping, and improve public access to parliamentary proceedings, positioning Kakamega County as a leader in digital governance.
