Kerugoya, Kirinyaga County – Kirinyaga County Assembly Speaker has praised the Economic Empowerment Programme launched in Kerugoya as a powerful example of policy meeting real-life impact.

Speaking during the event graced by Deputy President H.E. Prof. Kithure Kindiki, the Speaker underscored the importance of aligning national economic goals with the day-to-day needs of local communities. “Economic transformation takes root when strategic policy meets the everyday realities of the people,” the Speaker said.

Under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), 40 women groups—representing over 6,000 members—received tools and capital to scale up their income-generating ventures. The support is aimed at enhancing sustainable livelihoods, strengthening household resilience, and unlocking community potential.
