Asection of nairobi county assembly mcas have now turn their gun to the assembly speaker Ben Mutura for going against the assembly public service board decison to allow deputy clerk Pauline Akuku take over the office of the clerk in an acting capacity.
Led by Kitusuru mca Alvin Palapala, the county legislators have raised their concern in the manner the speaker is running operations at City Hall.
This comes as Nairobians brace themselves for yet another dramatic supremacy battle at the city assembly.
According to the letters seen by TopNews.co.ke, the speaker had gone ahead and forwarded the name of Deputy Clerk in charge of Legislative, Adah Onyango, despite having already approved the name of Pauline Akuku who was forwarded by the board after garnering 3 votes against 1.
“The speaker says he was under pressure to make such changes,we cant allow this to happen ,we want law to be followed,”Palapala stated.
The new development comes after the appellate court’s order to Mr. Gichana to vacate office pending the determination of a lawsuit against him.
Palapala adds that, the current power tussle is a continuation of supremacy and power battle aimed at controlling resources which the clerk’s office is key.
Palapala has also accused the majority leader Abdi Guyo for playing dirty politics on matters who is to occupy the office of the clerk in an acting capacity.
“Guyo is now controlling everything at the assembly, why is he not comfortable with madam Pauline,we will not allow any other person to take over that office if is not Pauline ,the law must be respected,”Palapala stated.
