Lurambi Mp Titus Khamala has termed reports that the 2022 elections could be delayed as ” mere rumours” and ” unnecessary fears” from a section of leaders.
This comes after Cotu boss Francis Atwoli on Thursday 17th June said that if BBI is not passed before 2022 there will be no elections.
The vocal legislator argues that articles 101(1), 136, 177 and 180 of the Constitution sets the date of the election for Members of Parliament, the President, Members of County assembly and Governors.
“Now it’s just a bluff that one can ignore this date and peddle rumours or even insinuate that we postpone elections. It’s not possible, not feasible and not tenable with these clear provisions of the Constitution,” Khamala said.
Khamala added that these provisions are also tied to Kenya’s term of office as elected representatives which is five years and not one day more.
“If we extend our term even by a minute or an hour, We will be robbers. We will go down in the history of our country as people who robbed Kenyans their constitution mandate”,Khamala added.
Khamala added that ,Kenyans are anxiously waiting for ANC party boss leadership Musalia Mudavadi come next year August so that he can revive the country’s economy that is currently in ICU.
I love looking through an article that will make people think. Also, thanks for allowing me to comment!
