Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi has formally launched his bid for the Nairobi gubernatorial bid under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.
Wanyonyi said he is ready to start campaigns for the seat in next year’s General Election.
“I am ready to walk the journey and I am seeking your support,” Wanyonyi said Sunday when he launched the bid.
The law maker is promising to transform the city to realize its potential as the region’s business hub as well as increase the use of ICT in service delivery.
He said his 15 years of experience as an MP and nominated councillor is testimony to what he can deliver for the city as a Governor.
“I have been aleader in this city for the last fifteen years,I understand this Nairobi well,so am ready to transform it ,”Wanyonyi added.
So far, only Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja and Bishop Margret Wanjiru have declared interest in the seat.
Various ODM leaders led by secretary-general Edwin Sifuna were also present and they threw their weight behind the lawmaker’s bid.
“I will say this on behalf of the ODM party, we know that you are one of the most respected civil servants, not only in this country but across the world. I know there will no division in the party when it comes to the decision of who will be our candidate for governor in Nairobi,” Sifuna said.
