Nairobi gubernatorial hopeful Richard Ngatia has promised to create a kitty for widows and people living with disability if elected into office as Nairobi’s fourth Governor.
Ngatia who is campaigning on the platform of boosting business start ups has outlined various ways to incorporate widows,people living with disabilities and the ageing generation in his development agenda.
” I know that these groups form part of the urban poor who need our support and this is why we are going to factor them in our budget,” Ngatia stated.
Ngatia was speaking in Langata on Thursday, when he met over 1000 widows.
He also drummed up support for the Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
Ngatia hailed Raila’s promise to set aside Sh 6000 each for the vulnerable families across the country.
In Nairobi,it is estimated that over 100,000 people live in abject poverty.
Ngatia called on the Finance Budget and Appropriation Committee to consider some allocations for the vulnerable communities in the 2022/23 budget that is currently under preparation.
