Chaos rocked City Hall on Monday morning when Nairobi MCAs stormed Governor Ann Kananu’s office over salary delays.
Kananu who was not in office was lucky enough not to encounter the MCAs wrath face to face.
The MCAs also stormed the office of County Executive Committee (CEC) member for finance Allan Igambi who was not available.
They screamed and shouted loudly, demanding that Kananu should help solve the financial crisis which they termed as political.
The angry MCAs moved around all the offices demanding for answers as to why salaries have delayed for three months.
They called out Kananu for abseintism and incompetence.Igambi was also not spared, with the angry MCAs calling him an alcoholic.
Led by nominated ODM MCA Mary Arivisa, the over thirty ward representatives critisized Kananu and Igambi for playing games with the plight of assembly staff and MCAs.
“Governor Kananu instructed Igambi not to release our two months’ salary and that is why he has disappeared from office for over two weeks,” said one of the angered MCAs.
It was established later that Kananu had escaped through the back door to avoid the irate County legislators.
The MCAs have called on president Uhuru Kenyatta’s intervention to restore order and have the MCAs together with the county staffs paid their salaries.
“Some of these workers have families that depend on them, I don’t find any reason why there should be continued delay of salaries every now and then, scandal after scandal at City Hall because of two people,” said Arivisa.
They added that making Kananu the Governor is a mistake they will forever regret.
