The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) Director General Silas Kinoti has been hailed for being an integral part of the Infrastructural development networks being witnessed in the country as a key enabler for economic activities to thrive.
According to Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja,KURA under the watch of Kinoti has served as a special purpose vehicle to develop and manage the infrastructural and socio-economic activities as well as mobilise resources for various projects in the country.
“Kinoti is a reputable engineer with work ethic and he has been instrumental both in the previous and the current regime in aiding towards the realisation of improved infrastructure in Kenya,a milestone that’s aimed at changing the lives of the ordinary citizens through eased mobility and promote trading activities.
“Together with the new Roads CS Kipchumba Murkomen, they will be very resourceful to President William Ruto’s agenda whose an early area of focus seeks to re-energise ongoing partnerships with representatives of various agencies including the World Bank and complete existing projects” remarked Sakaja.
According to Kinoti,urban roads play fundamental function of shaping the economic growth and have productive interlinkages with other socio-economic activities such as industrial, services, agricultural, commercial, social institutions and households.
“For the country to attain her targets on economic growth and sustain it, the urban centres must be well functioning through well equipped roads networks ,” he said, adding that, building of infrastructure is the most powerful tool in the creation of jobs and the playing field for all businesses.
Governor Sakaja has urged his fellow Governors to work closely with Kinoti for the benefit of their electorates on matters urban mobility.
Since its inception, KURA has executed its vision delivering a safe and efficient urban road transport infrastructure through construction of over 1000 kilometres of new roads,rehabilitation of several kilometres, provision of bridges and interchanges as well as creation of pedestrian walkways among others.
