Nairobi County Assembly has now given CEC Finance Charles Kerich six working hours to release the assembly funds, failure to which they will impeach him on Thursday 9th March.
According to the MCAs led by Majority leader Peter Imwatok, the super CEC has now turned the assembly an executive department which he controls financially at his will with the blessing of the governor Johnson Sakaja.
“Kerich has six hours to release our funds,members can not perform their duties because of him,the oversight role of members stalled long time ago and we can’t allow this,let him not dare us,will impeach him.” Majority leader Peter Imwatok said.
On his part, Majority whip Moses Ogeto said Article 176 is clear and they will not starve because of one incompetent county officer.
His counterpart Minority leader Anthony Kiragu said as leaders they will oversight Sakaja’s administration so that Nairobi residents get services.
“Mr speaker this county we must put it on order,iwant to agree with majority leader for what he has raised in this assembly, we can not allow an officer to subbotage our legislative operations, we are ready for this motion, “Kiragu minority leader.
Korogocho ward Mca Absalom Odhiambo Matach on his part, further decried of how Mcas sleep in places that are not secure while on retreat trip in Mombasa, citing insecurity to honourable members.
“Mr speaker we have no money,we go for retreats in Mombasa, we go sleep in places that have no security just because we have no cash in our pockets,some of us uses sgr instead of flight like our colleagues in executive, some of us are even stranded abroad because they have no money to fly back,”Matach Absalom, Korogocho ward Mca
