Startimes Kenya Holds Successful Kids Event, Announces Bouquet Price Adjustments

Pay TV broadcaster StarTimes Media has announced its commitment to promoting local content on its platform by investing heavily in quality content for its subscribers.

This aligns with the company’s announcement last year to commit an additional $1.7 million (Ksh. 200 Million) towards the development of local content. As a result, the broadcaster’s total expenditure on local content has now surpassed $3.5 million.

The company has decided to increase its investment in the wake of the success of Rembo TV, its local content channel. When the broadcaster set up this self-produced channel for Kenyan subscribers to enhance production of quality content for their subscribers

The company recently unveiled Hello Mr Right season 3 which will be captained by Dr. Ofweneke and Diana Marua and will be exclusively aired at Rembo TV.

On Saturday, the company held a successful kids event at Garden City mall where it announced slight increases on its bouquet prices.

Startimes Kenya CEO Mr. Jimmy Carter has noted that the company is heavily investing capital for quality content for their subscribers and will continue to ink partnerships with industry players to promote local content.

He said that Startimes Kenya’s commitment to promoting local content and investing in quality content for its subscribers demonstrates its dedication to providing the best possible viewing experience for its customers.

Mr Carter noted that the customers who subscribe to Startimes’ DTT daily Basic and Classic Bouquets will be charged Ksh65 and Ksh95, respectively while those who opt for the weekly Basic and Classic Bouquets will have to pay Ksh240 and Ksh360, respectively. Similarly, monthly Basic and Classic Bouquet customers will now be charged Ksh649 and Ksh999, respectively.

“For the DTH offering, our daily Smart and Super customers will enjoy their content at Ksh110 and Ksh135, respectively while our weekly Smart and Super subscribers will enjoy the adjusted Ksh380 and Ksh540, respectively, while our monthly customers will now pay Ksh1059 and Ksh1599 for the Smart and Super Subscribers, respectively,” said Jimmy Carter, Startimes CEO.

In additional to this, he noted that there will be a slight adjustment to the pricing of DTH decoder only, which will now be available at Ksh1799 while customers who choose to purchase the full kit can enjoy a gentle upgrade to the next best bouquet for a duration of 30 days at Ksh2999.
