KBL Whitecap Prioritizes Sustainable Behavior and Conservation in Rhino Charge Event

Kenya Breweries Limited through its brand Whitecap today announced its involvement in the 34th edition of the 4*4 off-road adventure spectacle the Rhino Charge event.

The company extends its partnership for the third year in a row and will be hoping for a similar impact as the previous years as it continues to prioritise its primary messaging on responsible drinking within motorsport.

In addition, the brand will be sponsoring two competing teams at the event, the eight – time Coup Des Dames winners, Team Bushbabes Car 19 and Team Hippo Car 25 who will be participating for the 13th and 7th time respectively in the competition.

The landmark event hosted by the Rhino Ark Kenya Charitable Trust aims at raising awareness and sensitisation towards the conservation and protection of Kenya’s mountain range ecosystems popularly known as the “Water Towers”.

On the Charge: “We are delighted to have Kenya Breweries through their brand Whitecap on board for this year’s Rhino Charge edition, the third in a row. The continued involvement and support of brands like Whitecap are testament to the positive work being done to increase the awareness and support around the environmental conservation agenda” said Chairman and Clerk of Rhino Charge Don White.

He added “Preparations for this year’s event are nearly complete; as we close in on the Charge event on the 3rd of June and we expect another great outing for both participants and fans to one of Kenya’s most spectacular places”.

Speaking on its involvement, Brand Manager, Kenya Breweries Limited, Prudence Mukami endorsed the role Rhino Ark Charity had in the sensitisation of Kenyan environmental conservation through the competition. 

“As Kenya Breweries, we are extremely excited to be part of the Rhino Charge competition for the third year running. We have and continue to prioritise sustainable behaviour within all our interactions and partnering with organisations like Rhino Ark Charity will ensure more sensitisation and prioritising of this critical agenda throughout our audiences. 

She added “This year, we extend our sponsorship to two great teams participating, the Bushbabes- Car 19 and Team Hippo -Car 25 that align perfectly with our Diversity and Inclusion agenda as a company. We hope their participation will encourage the next generation of male and female drivers to get involved in motorsport.”

KBL through its beer brand Whitecap has been actively involved in motorsport for the past three years in various motorsport fronts including the Kenya National Rally Championship, East African Classic Rally, Lionesses Rally among others. 

For the sponsored teams, Bushbabes Driver Sabina Contos expressed her excitement at participating at the event and the positive impact it has on the conservation agenda.

“We are back and excited to participate in our 13th Charge event. It has been an honour to continually show up for this worthwhile cause to raise awareness on environmental conservation, something we are extremely passionate about.  We are also glad to be partnering with Kenya Breweries as we share similar values on promoting inclusivity and diversity in Motorsport and increasing sensitisation on conservation within our environs”

The 2022 edition saw a total of 64 teams take part in the Charge event held in Mosiro, Kajiado County. They managed to raise a total of KSH 150,000,000 through various revenue streams which was invested in conservation efforts around the Mt Kenya, Aberdares and Mt Eburu Forests.
