Also, Under her leadership, Ms. Angela Ndambuki is credited with overseeing the renewal of KAMP’s license by industry regulator the Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO) after a two-year hiatus, increased collection of royalties by the association (50 percent of collected revenue set aside for distribution to members, a first in KAMP) and leading the first music representatives benchmarking trip to South Africa which culminated in the signing of a memorandum between KAMP and South African Music Performance Rights Association (SAMPRA).
Furthermore, as the Regional Director for the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) in Sub-Saharan Africa, Angela Ndambuki has made remarkable contributions to the music industry beyond Kenya’s borders. Through her role at IFPI, she has been a champion for the rights of music producers and artists throughout the region. Some of her notable achievements include:
Strengthening Copyright Protection: Ms. Ndambuki has advocated for stronger copyright protection laws and enforcement measures to safeguard the rights of music producers in Sub-Saharan Africa. Her efforts have contributed to curbing piracy and ensuring fair remuneration for artists.
Promoting Licensing and Royalties: Under Ms. Ndambuki’s leadership, IFPI has worked closely with music licensing organizations and collecting societies in the region to streamline licensing processes and improve the collection and distribution of royalties, enabling music producers to receive their rightful earnings more efficiently.
Supporting Capacity Building: Ms. Ndambuki has been actively involved in organizing workshops, training programs, and mentorship initiatives to enhance the skills and knowledge of music producers in Sub-Saharan Africa. She has paved the way for a thriving and sustainable music industry by empowering these professionals.
