Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has been urged to consider more allocation of bursaries to slum students in Nairobi.
Speaking while issuing out bursary cheques to needy students in Korogocho ward, Absalom Odhiambo who is the area mca ,said it was unfair to allocate busary funds equally to all 85 Mcas yet those coming from slums have more needy students who need the bursary.
“We want to request Sakaja to consider slum parents and students, we need more bursaries as compared to students in Lavington, and Karen”,Mca Matach said.
He gave example of those Mcas from Kileleshwa, Karen,Runda ,whom he said the students from such areas are well off and they less require such bursaries.
“We mcas from slum areas we have so many students who are ineed of this bursaries but we can’t manage because they are less, but my counterparts from Karen ,Kileleshwa ,Kilimani ,Parklands they get bursaries but no one is willing to pick them because the parents are well off,Sakaja should listen to our plea,”Mca Matach added.
