Nairobi County Government has collected Sh10.644 in revenue in the financial year 2022/23.
The amount also represented a significant increase compared to Sh8.972 billion collected in the 2021/2022 financial year.
County Executive Committee Member for Finance, Mr Charles Kerich, attributed the increase in revenue collection to the streamlining of several county revenue streams including land tax, parking fees, single business permit, plans and inspections, billboards and advertisements, house and stall rent, fire inspection certificates, food handlers’ certificates, and markets, among others.
The revenue from Land Rates stood at Sh2, 864,357,087, parking fees Sh1, 861,601,274, Single Business Permits Sh1, 633,513,223, Plans and Inspections (Building Permits) Sh963, 349,767, Billboards and Advertisements Sh593, 283,758, and the collection from Liquor Licensing was Sh241, 552,546.
The data further shows the county collected Sh202, 611,108 from Fire Inspection Certificates, Sh132, 717,178 from Food Handlers Certificates, and Sh250, 509,467 from markets.
During the Financial Year under review, the county also collected Sh16, 799,930 from Mutuini Hospital, Sh299, 185,349 from Mbagathi Hospital, Sh182, 726,670 from Pumwani Hospital, while Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital generated a revenue of Sh439, 089,953.
