A cold war is brewing between Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and ODM leadership at the Nairobi County Assembly.
This is after it emerged that Majority Leader Peter Imwatok refused to accompany Sakaja and his Kenya Kwanza brigade at a conference in San Francisco where President William Ruto is also expected to give a keynote address.
According to Imwatok, there is clear direction from the party on the issue of working with the government and he can not go to the extent of betraying his party because the bilateral talks are still on, and before that, they remain in opposition.
“The purpoted invite is all about weakening the opposition in Nairobi. We are not be party to it and I have advised our members not to set foot in USA. It should be clear that ODM is in the opposition not handshake with Kenya Kwanza and therefore such meetings have ill motives and we shall not be subjects,” Imwatok said.
“My conscience is very clear we know the meaning of that meeting..Me Sakaja and Ruto same table No am not that character” he added.
