Nairobi Mcas across political divide have blamed the top leadership of City inspectorate famously known as Kanjos ,for the atrocity perpetrated on vendors of smokies and boiled eggs in the city centre on Wednesday, October 18.
Led by Korogocho ward Mca Absalom Odhiambo Matach the City ward reps have accused the city inspectorate for being incompetent in their line of duty further calling for their resignation with immediate effect.
“We can’t have such incompetent in our county, whatever took place yesterday is not what Our Governor can wish of,”Mca Matach said.
Matach further called upon the Kanjos to treat Nairobi residents with some human heart.
“This is not the way to treat Nairobians as we have continually implored our officers to treat Nairobians with dignity, “Mca Matach said.
The Mcas have also defended the Governor for the action by his officers, saying Sakaja can’t allowa such action on hustlers.
“Our Governor respect small scale business traders ,he can allow such harassment on them, the kanjos are doing things without consultation,”he added.
The governor who is in France for a global school feeding summit termed the incident “most unfortunate” and apologised by appeasing the traders with Sh10,000 each.
The vendors were thrown off the streets and their trolleys seized by city inspectorate officers for allegedly not having Medical certificates from Public Health that every food handler must have.
“I have ordered the immediate release of all confiscated items, apologised to the traders and personally compensated each of them to the tune of 10,000 shillings each,” Sakaja said.
