The Nairobi County’s Ward Development Program (WDP) continues to construct and rehabilitate roads in the various wards in Nairobi.
WDP is currently undertaking asphaltic concrete works along Joyvilla Samco Road in Dandora III Ward.
“Works on this road are substantially complete. This road serves the residential areas of Joy Villa and Kwa Chief in Dandora III. Also, as we speak engineers are currently on site and ensuring that ongoing road works along Turbo Road Kilimani Ward, access road to olive hospital in south c ward, sungura road in Kileleshwa ward, Kingston Uchumi Road in Viwandani Ward among many other road and building works in various wards are going on seamlessly,” Acting WDP Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Eston kimathi stated.
The WDP is a Capital development programme which ensures that a specific portion of the County annual budget is devoted to the Wards for purposes of development and in particular the fight against poverty and improving the lives of Nairobi residents in the 85 wards.
“This financial year 2023/2024 WDP has procured projects in all the 85wards valued at Kes. 1.9B. Under the leadership of Governor Sakaja, previously underdeveloped wards like Uthiru/Rithimitu have received a fair share of development where the county constructed the first county funded tarmack road to restore dignity to the residents of Nairobi,” he said.
WDP has overseen the construction of Non Motorized transport facilities like walkways in informal settlements like Mathare /Mabatini and rehabilitated roads within residential estates like New Ngara Estate. In the implementation of these projects, we have been able to create job opportunities for our youth that keep them away from engaging in substance abuse.” Added Eng. Kimathi.
