Dorcas Rigathi, spouse of the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, recently hosted a gathering of Senior Spiritual Fathers for their monthly prayer meeting at the National Prayer Altar in Karen, Nairobi.
The meeting brought together a distinguished group of clergy to intercede for various aspects of Kenyan society.
Joined by Archbishops Dr. Arthur Kitonga and Gerry Kibarabara, as well as notable bishops including Dr. Pius Muiru, Dr. Mophat Kilioba, Stephen Gachengo, Patrick Mungai, Samuel Njiriri, Mathew Monde, John Maingi Kahihu, Michael Chege, and Samuel Chege, the prayer session covered a wide range of topics. Also in attendance were Revs. Judy Mbugua, Charles Munywoki, Lily Macharia, Esther Nduta Chege, Ev. Grace Mwai, and pastors Boniface Mukami and Samuel Karega.
The clergy offered prayers for the nation, government, economy, the 47 counties, the Church, families and marriages, accidents, the rains, the health sector, and addictions. The gathering emphasized the importance of spiritual intervention in addressing the challenges facing Kenya.
“We have many challenges in our nation, and God may not come down in the form of thunder or a burning bush like He did in the Scriptures,” said Dorcas Rigathi during the prayer meeting. “But we, as the likeness of God, are the face, hands, and feet to reach the vulnerable in our country through the empowerment of the Spirit of God.”
The meeting also highlighted the need to reach out to all members of society, regardless of their circumstances. Dorcas Rigathi quoted Acts 10:15, 28, reminding everyone: “What God has made clean, do not call common.” She emphasized the importance of not labeling any person as common or unclean in the eyes of God
The prayer meeting served as a platform for spiritual leaders to come together in unity, seeking divine intervention for the betterment of Kenya. It was a moment of reflection, unity, and hope, as the clergy joined hands to pray for peace, prosperity, and healing across the nation.
Dorcas Rigathi’s initiative to host such a gathering underscores the role of faith-based leaders in guiding the nation through prayer and spiritual guidance. The monthly prayer meetings at the National Prayer Altar continue to be a beacon of hope, bringing together spiritual leaders to intercede for Kenya’s well-being and progress.
