Deputy Rigathi Gachagua, alongside President William Samoei Ruto, gathered in Nairobi this morning to mark the significant 20th Anniversary of the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).
During the event, Gachagua emphasized the enduring impact of NG-CDF, depicting it as the driving force behind equity and development over the past two decades.
“The revolutionary National Government Constituency Development Fund has remained the nucleus driving equity and development for two decades,” affirmed Deputy Rigathi Gachagua.
He emphasized the importance of sustaining NG-CDF, underlining the necessity of continuing to support its mission of fostering development and addressing the needs of local communities.
“The Anniversary was full of stories of lives touched since inception, hence the need to sustain the kitty,” remarked Deputy Rigathi Gachagua.
The commemoration event showcased compelling stories illustrating the tangible impact NG-CDF has had on communities since its inception. From infrastructure projects to educational initiatives and healthcare improvements, the fund has positively influenced countless lives across various constituencies in Kenya.
Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u, the National Treasury and Economic Planning Cabinet Secretary, acknowledged the significant impact NG-CDF has made in the two decades since its establishment. He assured that any outstanding funds would be disbursed to the constituencies before the end of the 2023/2024 Financial Year.
“NG-CDF has provided Kenyans an opportunity to flourish, and its track record resonates well with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda,” stated Prof. Ndung’u.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula echoed the sentiment, emphasizing that the impact of NG-CDF has been felt nationwide. He urged the NG-CDF Board to remain committed to fund management to ensure its continued growth.
“We will work together with legislators to expand the scope of NG-CDF to realize more development,” stated Mr. Wetang’ula.
