The MP stressed the importance of incorporating the public’s voice in the debate over the Finance Bill, which has sparked widespread unrest. “The people’s voice must be factored into this debate, and it should not be met with a heavy-handed approach,” she said, urging the government to listen to the grievances of the citizens.

“As parents, we should have a genuine conversation on how we can manage our children, listen to them, and address issues such as unemployment,” Elachi added. Her remarks underscore the need for dialogue and understanding in addressing the concerns of the youth and ensuring their rights are upheld during the protests.

The Finance Bill 2024 has led to significant public outcry and demonstrations across the country. Elachi’s call for restraint and empathy from the police is a crucial reminder of the need to balance law enforcement with the protection of civil liberties, especially for vulnerable groups like children.
