In response to the growing global demand for value-added Kenyan teas, the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) has introduced a new product, Chai Gold. This initiative aims to boost sales of Kenyan tea, meet market demands, and increase earnings for smallholder farmers.
KTDA Group CEO Wilson Muthaura emphasized the significance of Chai Gold, stating, “Chai Gold will not only increase sales for Kenyan tea but also meet marketing demands and earn more money for Kenyan smallholder farmers, who are our primary focus at KTDA.”
Muthaura underscored the essence of Chai Gold as more than just a new product, describing it as a representation of Kenya’s tea-making tradition and artistry. “Chai Gold is not just a new product locally; it is our tradition and the art of tea making. In every sip, you will experience the richness of carefully selected tea leaves from our smallholder tea farmers’ factories, the perfect blend of our tea, and the dedication of our team who have worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life,” he said.
The launch of Chai Gold is a testament to KTDA’s commitment to enhancing the livelihoods of smallholder farmers by tapping into new markets and increasing the value of Kenyan tea on the global stage.
