Vision 2030’s Kenneth Mwige Highlights Sustainable Development at Ruwaza Centre Media Forum

The Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat marked a milestone on Tuesday with the inaugural Ruwaza Centre Media Engagement Forum, a pivotal event aimed at promoting sustainable development and environmental conservation in line with the Vision 2030 agenda.

The forum featured distinguished speakers from key environmental and water sector agencies, with a focus on collaborative efforts towards achieving Kenya’s long-term development goals. The event brought together leaders and stakeholders committed to addressing the country’s environmental and development.

During his address, Kenneth Mwige, Director General of the Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat, emphasized the critical role of sustainable practices in achieving the nation’s development goals. He highlighted the importance of multi-sectoral collaboration to protect and manage Kenya’s natural resources effectively.

“The Ruwaza Centre Media Engagement Forum is a significant step towards fostering a deeper understanding of the Vision 2030 objectives among stakeholders and the public. It is crucial that we work together to protect our environment and ensure sustainable development for future generations,” Mwige stated.

Mr. Molu Wato underscored the importance of protecting and rehabilitating Kenya’s water towers, which are vital for the country’s water security and biodiversity. He detailed ongoing initiatives aimed at conservation and rehabilitation efforts, emphasizing community involvement and sustainable management practices.

Mr. Willis Ombai, CEO of the Water Sector Trust Fund, spoke about the importance of securing water resources for both rural and urban communities. He highlighted the Fund’s efforts in financing and supporting projects that enhance water access and management, particularly in underserved areas.

Dr. Issak Elmi from the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) addressed the role of ecosystem management in achieving environmental sustainability. He emphasized the need for stringent regulatory frameworks and active community participation to mitigate environmental degradation and promote conservation.

The Ruwaza Centre Media Engagement Forum concluded with a call to action for all stakeholders to actively participate in and support initiatives aimed at achieving the Vision 2030 goals. The event underscored the collective responsibility of government agencies, private sector players, and the community in ensuring sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
