Kenyans have been advised to use constitutional provisions that allow them to recall Members of Parliament.

Political experts and leaders across the country now opine that the current Parliament cannot be trusted to put the executive on check and defend citizen rights.

Political commentators Edwin Mwangi and Johnston Oduk claim the inversion of parliament by angry anti-finance bill protesters is enough evidence that Kenyans have lost confidence with their legislators and the Kenya Kwanza administration.

They have suggested that parliament’s refusal to listen to the demands of Kenyans on Tuesday when they voted to adopt amendments to the Finance Bill 2024 was quite insensitive.

” When the protestors are being killed and the MPs are voting yes that speaks volumes to the fact that they are insensitive and have to be recalled,” Mwangi said.

Johnston Oduk who is a politician and media practitioner said the country had reached at a level where parliament can’t be trusted.

” A vote of no confidence has been passed against parliament by the public and we know the president can’t disolve it so Kenyans should go to the next level and recall all MPs then push for new elections using whatever means possible,” Oduk said.

On Tuesday morning MPs from the government side voted to adopt amendments to the bill with 195 votes while those opposed managed 106 votes.

Opposition senators and MPs had earlier on called for a total rejection of the bill and resignation of President William Ruto.

The Azimio coalition recalled it’s amendments to the bill in support of the Tuesday demonstrations.
