Dr. Waqo Dulacha Ejersa Appointed New KEMSA CEO

Dr. Waqo Dulacha Ejersa has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), succeeding Dr. Andrew Mulwa, who served in an acting capacity since March 2023.

Dr. Ejersa, a seasoned medical professional with over 25 years of experience in health policy and implementation, previously led the National Tuberculosis, Leprosy, and Lung Diseases division within the Ministry of Health. His extensive background includes roles as Head of the National Malaria Control Programme and the Department of Non-Communicable Diseases Programmes.

With a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Nairobi, a Master of Public Health from the University of Melbourne, and ongoing studies in Strategic Planning at Edinburgh Business School, Dr. Ejersa brings a wealth of expertise in financial management, strategic planning, and health governance.

His significant contributions to malaria control and public health policy have earned him both local and international recognition, including the Order of Grand Warrior of Kenya. He is lauded for his work in community health strengthening and mentoring future health professionals.
