Safaricom Announces Five New Winners in the Ongoing Shine Kenya Shinda Mamilii Campaign

Safaricom has revealed the names of the five lucky winners in the second draw of the ongoing Shine Kenya Shinda Mamilii Kama Bingwa campaign. Each winner has been awarded KES 1 million, with an additional KES 250,000 from the Safaricom Foundation to support a community initiative of their choice. This community fund aims to ensure that the campaign benefits not only the individual winners but also their wider communities.

Kenneth Kiprono:
A 48-year-old businessman from Eldoret, Kenneth owns a bookshop and plans to use his winnings to add stock to serve local schools. He has been a loyal Safaricom customer since the company’s inception. With the additional KES 250,000, Kenneth intends to support the library of his local school.

Kenneth expressed his joy:
“I was over the moon when I received the call from Safaricom. This came at a great time as schools in the area are reopening, and I need to replenish the stock of my bookstore. I am thankful to Safaricom for this tremendous opportunity and will continue to be a Safaricom customer for the foreseeable future.”

Givonce Otieno:
An aspiring poultry farmer and unemployed teacher from Gem, Siaya County, Givonce plans to invest his prize money in advancing his sugarcane farming and starting a poultry farming project. He also intends to use the additional KES 250,000 to buy water tanks for his local primary school.

Jackson Habagusaba:
Originally from Uganda, Jackson is a 35-year-old shoe seller who has been in Machakos for seven years. He plans to use his winnings to expand his business and start poultry farming.

Mary Mbula Munyasya:
A 32-year-old single mother of three from Kiambu, Mary works at a club and initially suspected a scam when informed of her win. Once convinced, she decided to use the additional KES 250,000 to construct pit latrines in her rural center in Mwea.

Erick Kanumbi:
A 23-year-old decorator from Nanyuki, Erick had to pause his engineering studies due to financial constraints. He hopes to use his winnings to return to school and complete his degree.

Peter Ndegwa, Chief Executive Officer of Safaricom PLC, congratulated the winners:
“I want to congratulate the winners of the second draw. The different stories of these individuals really illuminate the reason we do this. Our purpose is to transform the lives of our customers so that they go on to do great things in their lives. We are but a conduit that provides the necessary tools for Kenyans to Shine.”

How to Participate: To participate in the Shine Kenya Shinda Mamilii Kama Bingwa campaign, customers need to transact on M-PESA or purchase Shine Kenya Bundles. For every KES 200 transacted on M-PESA and any Shine Kenya bundle purchase of KES 20 and above, customers will earn an entry into the weekly draw. Qualifying M-PESA transactions include Send Money (P2P), Lipa na M-PESA, and any transaction made through the M-PESA app, My Safaricom app, by dialling *444#, *544#, or *334#
