Engaging Stakeholders to Transform the Mining Sector

Enriching engagements and consultations with key stakeholders in the mining and mineral processing sector remain a core pillar at the heart of creating synergies needed to transform the sector.

Principal Secretary for Mining, Elijah G. Mwangi, led senior department officials in an interactive session with officials and members of the Mining Engineers Society of Kenya (MESK) to discuss the status and vision of the mining sector. The meeting covered broad themes including investments, opportunities, future programs, and professional growth for experts in the sector. Also present were Mineral Rights Board (MRB) Chair S. Kutiti and the National Mining Corporation, led by Board Chair Hon. Joseph Lagat.

The department holds that mining engineers are indispensable to the sector’s growth. Their expertise and deep technical insights are key to enhancing Kenya’s mineral productivity and entrenching safety standards to make the mining environment secure.

The department looks forward to deeper collaboration and future engagements with MESK and other stakeholders, including academia, to drive reforms and growth in Kenya’s mining sector.
