Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has hailed the appointment of former Mombasa Governor and ODM deputy party leader Hassan Joho to the cabinet.
President William Ruto on wednesday nominated Joho as the Mining,Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Cabinet Secretary.
His appointment has been recieved with alot of jubilation in the coastal region, and the latest to throw his support is Mike Sonko,who says the appointment is justified and will boost ongoing development projects in the region.
” I fully support the appointment of my brother Hassan Joho who is very qualified and capable of delivering to Kenyans”
Sonko said Joho’s appointment will also unify the region.
” It is a good start for our region and also good for out future in the governance of the country,” he added.
He also applauded the reappointment of Kindiki Kithure as the Interior Security CS.According to him, Kindiki has been tremendous in his docket and that his efforts were tainted by rogue police officers.
” Kindiki was very professional and knew how to handle protesters.He was only messed up by rogue officers who should face full force of the law,” he said
He called on the Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) to expedite investigations and bring to book all officers,some who were caught on live camera killing innocent protesters to be prosecuted.
The former governor has however warned against any form of handshake between President William Ruto and the opposition.
He said the appointments made should not be used to kill the opposition and oversight.
He has also called on President William Ruto to address a raised by Gen-Z protestors.
” The Gen-Zs have done a wonderful job,they have won 90% of the battle and we are fully behind them.The president needs to be easy and talk to them nicely,” he said
