The Kahiga Primary School project, which is part of the 4K-Club programme aimed at promoting agribusiness and irrigated farming among young learners, is currently under construction. The initiative is being executed in two phases, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to addressing water access and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

In the first phase, the project includes the review of the hydrogeological survey and report, the drilling and development of the borehole, and the essential test pumping activities to ensure the water source’s viability. The second phase will involve equipping the borehole with the necessary infrastructure to support long-term use.

A key component of this project is the installation of a 20,000 m³ water tank for Kahiga Primary School, which will ensure a consistent water supply for the students. Additionally, two other 10,000 m³ tanks will be installed to serve the surrounding community, extending the benefits of the project beyond the school and helping to address water scarcity in the region.

Hon. Muhia Wanjiku expressed his appreciation for the ongoing efforts and underscored the importance of such initiatives in transforming the agricultural landscape of Nyandarua County. PS Kimotho reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting irrigation projects that not only enhance food security but also empower the younger generation through practical agribusiness education.

This collaboration between the Kipipiri Constituency leadership and the Ministry of Irrigation reflects a shared vision of improving the quality of life for residents and fostering sustainable development in Nyandarua County. The successful implementation of the Kahiga Primary School water project is expected to serve as a model for similar initiatives across the region.
