One of the key projects highlighted by Hon. Kore is the newly completed solar-powered borehole at Qolloy village in Wargadud location. The project, carried out in collaboration with CARE International Kenya, marks a significant milestone in providing sustainable and reliable access to clean water for the residents of Qolloy.

“Thank you, CARE International Kenya, for completing the solarization of the borehole at Qolloy village,” Hon. Kore stated. “This will provide renewable power to the borehole, reducing the cost of extracting water for the residents and ensuring a reliable water supply in a region far from other government services.”

The solar-powered system is a critical development for Qolloy village, which lacks power supply from the national grid. The borehole, now fully operational with solar energy, pumps water from underground into a raised storage tank, from which it is distributed to community water collection points. This system ensures that the community has uninterrupted access to clean water 24 hours a day without reliance on external power sources.

Kore underscored the significance of using solar technology to enhance the resilience of the water supply system, especially in remote areas like Qolloy. The project is a testament to the power of synergy between the government and development partners in driving sustainable development
