PS Geoffrey Kaituko Commends New Kenya Shipyards MD, Maj Gen. Said Farah

Principal Secretary for the State Department of Shipping and Maritime Affairs, Hon. Geoffrey Kaituko, met with the newly appointed Managing Director of Kenya Shipyards Limited (KSL), Maj Gen. Said Farah, during a courtesy call. The meeting highlighted key developments and future plans for Kenya’s maritime sector.

Maj Gen. Farah, who recently took over as the second MD of KSL, briefed PS Kaituko on the organization’s readiness to implement the Multinational Lake Victoria Maritime Communications and Transportation Project. This initiative, a flagship project under the Kenya Maritime Authority (MaritimeKE) and Kenya Ports Authority (KMA), is expected to significantly enhance maritime operations on Lake Victoria.

In addition to discussing the project, Maj Gen. Farah shared his vision for KSL, which includes expanding the company’s shipbuilding operations to more regions and counties across Kenya. This expansion is part of a broader strategy to boost the maritime industry’s growth and strengthen Kenya’s position as a regional maritime hub.

PS Kaituko lauded Maj Gen. Farah’s appointment, acknowledging his leadership and commitment to advancing KSL’s mission. “I am confident that under his leadership, KSL will continue to make significant strides in the maritime sector,” said PS Kaituko. He also assured Maj Gen. Farah of his full support as KSL embarks on these ambitious projects and future endeavors.

This meeting underscores the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance Kenya’s maritime infrastructure and capabilities, positioning the country for greater economic growth and regional leadership in the maritime industry.
