Former Nairobi Mike Sonko will revive his once vibrant political movement called Team Wanjiku, which he says will speak and represent interest of the common man in public forums .

According to Sonko,Team Wanjiku will not be formed to fight the current government but push it to deliver on promises made to improve lives of common citizens and especially the hustlers.

The team that was formed back in 2018 advocated for the quick implementation of the famous big four agenda.

According to Sonko, the current team he will unveil together with those who will willingly join will support the broad based government, push for more education funding,a waiver for hustler fund defaulters and advocate support programs aimed at eliminating poverty.

Sonko says the group will help play a crucial oversight role outside parliament considering that the biggest minority party ODM has joined government after some of its members were appointed to the cabinet.

” This team will have a clear agenda and purpose to help the President and the government in general deliver the promises made to ghe people. We will also help the opposition role in an objective way,”

He said the team will be open to anyone and will include both elected and non-elected leaders.

The 2018 team attracted both youthful and seasoned leaders across the country.

It had MPs Patric Makau( Mavoko),Julius Mawathe( Embakasi South) and politicians Stanley Livondo, Reuben Ndolo and the late Kalembe Ndile.

The team for instance went to court to challenge proposed amendments to insurance rules that would have seen boda boda operators cover both pedestrians and passengers.

One of the driving force behind the formation of the team then was the realization that after the handshake, the opposition became dormant and that while the President was focused on the big four agenda, some key decisions touching on poor Kenyans economically could still be passed even against his wishes.

The team advocated for delivery of government projects across the country, without discrimination.
