In her remarks, President Odhiambo highlighted the need for in-house counsel to transition from being seen primarily as compliance enforcers to playing a more strategic advisory role within organizations. She emphasized the importance of continuous professional development, technological adaptation, and active participation in the strategic goals of companies.

“In-house counsel must evolve to provide strategic governance expertise that not only monitors compliance but also actively shapes the discourse in the ever-changing regulatory and compliance landscape,” Odhiambo stated.

She further encouraged both current and aspiring in-house counsel to stay ahead of industry trends through continuous training, positioning themselves as leaders in navigating the complex legal and regulatory environment across East Africa.

The convention attracted in-house legal professionals from across the region, who discussed key challenges and opportunities in their field. The event aimed to empower in-house counsel to be integral players in their organizations, contributing to both legal and business strategy.
