Nairobi, Kenya – September 9, 2024
The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) is reaching out to residents to participate in a series of public consultations concerning the planned Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Line 5 along Outer Ring Road. The initiative aims to gather valuable insights from the community to ensure the new transit system meets local needs and expectations.
KURA has highlighted the significance of community involvement in the development of the BRT Line 5 project, which is a key component of the Kenyan government’s efforts to enhance urban transportation. The BRT system is set to improve mobility and connectivity for those living and working along the Outer Ring Road corridor, offering a faster and more reliable public transport option.
To encourage broad participation, KURA has organized a series of stakeholder consultation meetings in four sub-counties, inviting residents, businesses, and other stakeholders to share their views. The meetings are scheduled as follows:
- September 10th: Kenya Assemblies of God Church East University, Mumias Road – for stakeholders from Makadara & Kamukunji.
- September 11th: Deputy County Commissioner’s Office, Embakasi Sub County (near Mama Lucy Hospital) – for stakeholders from Embakasi East & West.
- September 12th: Redeemed Gospel Church (Kware) – for stakeholders from Embakasi South.
- September 13th: Kenya Assemblies of God (KAG) Fedha, Off Outer Ring Road – for stakeholders from Embakasi East.
Each meeting will begin at 9:30 AM. KURA is urging all interested parties to attend and contribute their perspectives, ensuring that the BRT Line 5 project is designed with the community’s transportation needs in mind.
