CS Rebecca Miano Calls for Enhanced Skills in Tourism Sector to Boost Visitor Experience and Industry Growth

Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Rebecca Miano, emphasized the need for enhanced skills and knowledge across the tourism sector to sustain growth and improve the quality of services. In a statement during a meeting with the Tourism Fund Board and Management, Miano highlighted the critical role that continuous skill development plays in ensuring competitive advantage and fostering a positive visitor experience in Kenya’s tourism industry.

“The diversity of the tourism sector calls for enhanced skills, knowledge, and capabilities of all the sector players involved. This sustains and improves the quality of tourism services, leading to improved visitor experiences, competitive advantage, and holistic growth in the tourism industry,” said Miano.

During the meeting, the CS lauded the efforts of the Tourism Fund and its management team, expressing confidence in their ability to drive the sector forward. She further announced plans to increase support for training and capacity-building programs, aimed at improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the sector.

Miano emphasized the importance of agility and collaboration in achieving the industry’s goals, noting, “I’m encouraged by the agility and energy within the team involved in this crucial aspect of our economy.”

The government’s commitment to enhancing skills within the tourism sector is expected to bolster Kenya’s position as a top global tourist destination, leading to sustainable growth and a better experience for both local and international visitors.
