The Kenya National Police DT Sacco leadership held a strategic meeting with Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development, Wycliffe Oparanya, to discuss the government’s vision for advancing the cooperative sector.
During the meeting, CS Oparanya emphasized the vital role cooperatives play in promoting financial inclusion and economic empowerment. He highlighted the government’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for the growth and sustainability of cooperative societies, particularly in sectors like security.
“Cooperatives are a crucial pillar in driving the MSMEs sector and fostering economic development. We are working on policies to ensure cooperatives, including SACCOs like the Kenya National Police DT Sacco, have the necessary support to thrive,” said Oparanya.
Key issues discussed included the digital transformation of Sacco operations, strategies to increase capital mobilization, and efforts to expand Sacco membership, particularly among younger demographics. Oparanya also outlined government plans to introduce financial literacy programs to enhance the economic resilience of Sacco members.
The Kenya National Police DT Sacco leadership praised the government’s commitment, noting the Sacco’s tremendous growth over the years and its continued service to thousands of police officers and their families nationwide. The Sacco also presented its future roadmap, focusing on expanding services and improving member welfare.
The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration between the government and Saccos in driving socio-economic development and ensuring financial inclusion for all Kenyans.
