In response to the rising number of hyena attacks across Kenya, particularly in Juja, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has launched an extensive awareness campaign to educate the public on how to prevent and respond to hyena encounters.

KWS is actively engaging with students, teachers, administrators, and the wider Juja community, which has been severely impacted by human-hyena conflicts. The aim is to equip the community with crucial knowledge and strategies to minimize the risk of hyena attacks and reduce potential fatalities.

Through conservation education and the distribution of safety guidelines, KWS hopes to promote a better understanding of these often-misunderstood scavengers, fostering peaceful coexistence between humans and wildlife in affected areas
