60 children with Cerebral Palsy set to receive rehabilitation support up from 30 children
Minet Kenya, in partnership with the Cerebral Palsy Society of Kenya (CPSK), has doubled its support towards the provision of drugs, treatment, and therapy services to 60 children with Cerebral Palsy in Kenya.
This follows a successful inaugural charity event dubbed “Minet Fun Run – A Mile for Good” which raised Sh3.5 million towards the cause.
The event marked the ninth year since Minet Kenya signed a partnership pact with CPSK to support children with cerebral palsy.
Speaking at the event which was held at Ulinzi Sports Complex, Sammy Muthui, Minet Kenya Chief Executive Officer, expressed his gratitude to all participants and sponsors, saying the contributions would go a long way towards enhancing the quality of life for children living with the condition.
“Thanks to the generosity and commitment of every participant in the Fun Run, the funds raised today will enable us to double the number of children we sponsor through the Cerebral Palsy Society of Kenya every year—from 30 to 60. Just to put this in context, every Sh50,000 you have guarantees a child with Cerebral Palsy full year access to all rehabilitation services provided at CPSK.” he said.
Cerebral Palsy, or CP, is a group of neurological disorders that affect movement, coordination, and speech. It is typically caused by damage to the brain before, during, or shortly after birth. This damage can result in difficulties with muscle control and posture.
Mr Muthui said the insurance brokerage firm will continue supporting CPSK to provide life-changing therapy and support for children affected by Cerebral Palsy. He further challenged more corporates and wellwishers to come forward and support the welfare of children with Cerebral Palsy.
Among the partner organisations that participated in the Fun Run is Ushiriki Wema, a charitable initiative that advances wellness for the vulnerable in society. Madam Tessie Musalia, Ushiriki Wema Chairperson, pledged to support CPSK’s programme, urging more corporates to respond to the call to do good and boost the work done by Minet Kenya, CPSK, and other well wishers.
