Limuru MP Eng. Kiragu Chege Hosts Japanese Ambassador for Handover of Kabuku School Classrooms

Limuru, Kenya – September 17, 2024 – Limuru Member of Parliament, Eng. Kiragu Chege, today hosted H.E. Mr. Okaniwa Ken, the Ambassador of Japan to Kenya, at the official handover ceremony of an 8-classroom project at Kabuku Comprehensive School. The project, funded by the Government of Japan through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), is valued at approximately KSh 16.8 million and aims to provide students with a safer and more conducive learning environment.

In his address, Eng. Kiragu Chege expressed gratitude for the support from the Government of Japan, noting the significance of the investment in improving educational infrastructure in the region. “This project will greatly enhance the learning conditions for students at Kabuku Comprehensive School, which in turn will boost their academic performance. We are grateful to Japan for this commendable initiative, and we look forward to fostering more partnerships that have a positive impact on our communities,” said the MP.

H.E. Mr. Okaniwa Ken also highlighted Japan’s commitment to supporting grassroots development in Kenya, particularly in education, which he described as the foundation for sustainable growth.

Several dignitaries attended the event, including Ambassador Macharia Kamau, former Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs; representatives from Chandaria Industries; Mr. Mukele, the Limuru Deputy County Commissioner (DCC); area chiefs; officials from the Ministry of Education; and members of the Kabuku Comprehensive School fraternity.

The newly constructed classrooms are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of students by providing a more structured and improved educational environment.
