Embu, Kenya – September 17, 2024 – The Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA) Embu Region office, in collaboration with Hand in Hand Eastern Africa (EA), has engaged in productive discussions with Embu County officials to strengthen partnerships in the dairy value chain sector. The talks, led by Hand in Hand EA’s AVG Program Manager Mr. Samuel Mbugua, involved Chief Officer for Cooperatives Madam Millicent and Chief Officer for Livestock and Blue Economy Madam Hellen.
The meeting centered around Hand in Hand EA’s dairy value chain project, which is currently being piloted across six cooperatives in Embu County. This initiative aims to provide meaningful interventions in areas such as aggregation, value addition, capacity building, and investor readiness.
The partnership seeks to leverage the synergies of various stakeholders to ensure program sustainability and maximize the impact on local dairy farmers. The collaboration is expected to enhance the cooperatives’ capabilities, helping them become more competitive and ready for investment opportunities.
By bringing together expertise from different sectors, the project is poised to not only improve the livelihoods of local dairy farmers but also contribute to the growth of the dairy industry in Embu County. The discussions laid the foundation for long-term collaboration between the county government, Hand in Hand EA, and MSEA, with a shared goal of creating sustainable economic opportunities through enhanced value chain practices.
The partnership will focus on bolstering the region’s dairy sector by improving production processes, building cooperative capacities, and facilitating access to markets, ultimately benefiting the entire value chain.
