Shalina Healthcare, a leading pharmaceutical company, today celebrated a significant milestone with the official launch of its Consumer Division.
This expansion marks a strategic move into the Over the Counter (OTC) and consumer healthcare market, bringing a range of renowned global brands to Kenyan consumers.
Among the exciting additions to Shalina Healthcare’s portfolio are Germol, a personal hygiene brand with a strong presence in Sub-Saharan Africa, and Monalisa, a line of body lotions and creams specifically formulated for African skin. Monalisa, recently honoured as the Best Moisturizer Brand of the Year 2024, exemplifies Shalina Healthcare’s commitment to offering premium quality products.
Vikas Khandelwal, Vice President & Business Head – East Africa at Shalina Healthcare Ltd, emphasized the company’s ongoing mission: “Our continued growth and expansion in Kenya are testaments to our dedication to improving healthcare outcomes and creating job opportunities in the region. We remain focused on our founding principles of quality, affordability, and availability as we strive to make a meaningful impact on healthcare across Africa.”
Shalina Healthcare’s entry into the Kenyan market in 2018 through the acquisition of Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company (PMC), laid a solid foundation for its growth.
This move enabled the company to introduce global brands in key therapeutic areas, including dermatology and pain management. The subsequent acquisition of Orange Pharma Limited in 2022 further solidified its position as a leading player in the Kenyan pharmaceutical industry.
This acquisition elevated Shalina Healthcare into the top 5 pharmaceutical companies in Kenya, enhancing its capability to meet the diverse healthcare needs of Kenyans.
Today’s launch also celebrates the acquisition of beloved household names Kaluma, Sonamoja, and Sonadol, further cementing Shalina’s commitment to accessible, high-quality healthcare.
As Shalina Healthcare’s Consumer Division takes centre stage, the company is poised to make a significant contribution to the Kenyan healthcare landscape, offering consumers a wider range of high-quality, affordable products.
From its headquarters at Shalina House in Babadogo, Thika Road, the company’s Kenyan operations now employ over 200 individuals, supporting a nationwide sales and marketing network.
