Nairobi City County Assembly Health Committee Chairperson Maurice Ochieng’ has  called on County Government of Nairobi to move with speed and ensure that all buildings  in the city are re-painted starting with those located at Nairobi Central Business District.

According to Hon Maurice most of the buildings are dirty and unpresentable hence violating  section 118b of Public Health Act Cap 242.

“Most of the buildings have become public nuisance in regards to their conditions. They are  dirty, filthy and unpresentable hence quick intervention is needed to first address the issue of paint.County Executive Committee for Health Madam Silantoi should therefore act promptly and ensure this is done.” He said.

He accused building owners in CBD of disregarding the Public Health Act on ensuring that their properties are in good condition.

“The law on public nuisances under Section 118b of Public Health Act Cap 242 is clear and compliance is therefore irreversible. We want to caution the building owners against ignoring these provisions on public health.” He added.

Meanwhile he has applauded Governor Johnson Sakaja’s effort in reinstating order in the  Nairobi CBD.

“We are happy with what the Governor is doing and of course as law makers we shall also revisit our legislations to reinforce the same.Streets are now clean and orderly.” Stated Maurice.
