Key Developments in Water Supply:

  • AWWDA has constructed five boreholes with elevated tanks in Ngong, Rongai, and Kiserian, delivering over 1 million litres of water daily.
  • The ongoing relocation of water and sewer pipelines along the Nairobi Expressway is expected to supply 2.5 million litres of water daily by February 2025.
  • The nearly completed Kiserian-Ongata Rongai Water Supply Project (95% done) will serve 150,000 people, providing 18 million litres daily. This project includes the rehabilitation of the Mbagathi and Kiserian Dam water treatment plants, a 200-kilometre water distribution network, and 8,300 new household connections.

Future Strategic Plans:
A major highlight is the KES 12.5 billion Olooloitikosh–Kitengela–Kajiado Water and Sanitation Project. This ambitious initiative includes:

  • A 35-metre-high dam supplying 100 million litres of clean water daily.
  • Advanced waste stabilization ponds and trunk sewers to enhance sanitation.

The meeting saw active participation from key stakeholders, including AWWDA CEO Eng. Joseph Kamau, Director of Finance & Strategy Mike Kimotho, Director of Infrastructure Development Eng. Bonnie Nyandwaro, Kajiado West MP Hon. Sunkuiya George, and members of Kajiado County municipal councils and resident associations (K-MARA, OMARA, NMARA, KSARA, among others).

This collaboration underscores the commitment to addressing water and sanitation challenges, ensuring sustainable development and improved living conditions for Kajiado County residents.
