Spring Valley Residents and Activists Demand Participation Over Stalls Project

Civil Society Reference Group has called on Nairobi County Government to move with speed and facilitate a consultative forum  for the spring Valley Shopping Center affected by the on-going construction of new stalls.

In a letter addressed to the Planning Chief Officer Patrick Analo Akivanga the CSRG boss David Otieno  says his office   is ready to facilitate the  meeting so that the traders’ input can be heard.

“The CSRG organisation is a strong believer and promoter of Alternative Justice System and believes that the proposed citizen participation will help resolve the matter.” Otieno said in the letter.

Otieno further  raised concern over  development projects in the area that is being done without consulting the people Contrary to Article 10 of the Constitution.

“We were perturbed about this and we want to call on the County Government to ensure people’s position in governance is respected failure to which we shall not hesitate to pursue legal route in demanding the same.” He added.

Disadvantaged traders have also accused politicians and section of Cityhall officers to be behind the construction.
