Startimes Media Kenya, in collaboration with Boomplay Kenya, has officially launched Kenya Star Search, an exciting new reality singing competition aimed at uncovering Kenya’s most talented singers.

With a grand prize of Ksh. 1 million up for grabs, the competition promises to offer aspiring artists an unmatched platform to showcase their vocal abilities and gain nationwide recognition.

The contest is open to singers aged 18 and above, with online submissions already underway. Aspiring contestants have until January 31, 2025, to submit their audition videos.

Du Jing, Startimes’ Director of Content, expressed the company’s mission behind the initiative noting that the show will air on Rembo TV.

She said that Boomplay Kenya’s involvement ensures that contestants will have access to wider exposure, further amplifying their careers and giving them the opportunity to thrive beyond the competition.

“Our goal is to provide every aspiring singer with the chance to be seen, heard, and celebrated, while creating opportunities for growth in the music industry.” Du Jing said.

She also emphasized that Kenya Star Search goes beyond being a mere competition—it’s a tribute to Kenya’s vibrant musical heritage.

 “We aim to showcase the incredible talent this country has to offer, giving these artists a platform to shine on a national stage,” she added.

The judges’ panel for Kenya Star Search features some of the most respected and influential figures in Kenya’s entertainment industry.

Leading the charge is King Kaka, the rap king known for his impactful lyrics, chart-topping hits, and commanding presence

Joining him is Sanaipei Tande, widely regarded as the vocal queen of Kenya. With her years of experience as a celebrated singer and songwriter, Sanaipei will offer her unmatched expertise in melody, artistry, and vocal performance to inspire the next generation of stars.

Rounding off the panel is Motif the Don, a renowned hit-making producer, who will use his technical prowess and industry knowledge to fine-tune the contestants’ sound.

The show will be hosted by Amina Abdi Rabar, one of Kenya’s most versatile media personalities, whose infectious energy and captivating charm will keep the audience engaged, and Eddie Butita, the comedic genius whose sharp wit and humor will add light-hearted moments to the intense competition.

To participate, contestants must record a short audition video, introducing themselves in 10 seconds and showcasing their singing talent for 30 to 60 seconds. They are then required to upload the video on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok, using the hashtag #KenyaStarSearch and tagging Startimes Rembo TV. Contestants must also submit their video link via the official competition website: www.kenyastarsearch.com.
