Mudavadi Pushes for More Kenyan Jobs in Qatar

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has reinforced Kenya’s commitment to expanding employment opportunities for its citizens in Qatar.

 In a productive meeting with  H.E. Mohamed Al-Enazi,  Ambassador of Qatar in Nairobi,  Mudavadi advocated for increased  job placements for Kenyan  professionals, including teachers,  nurses, and security personnel.

Qatar has been a success employment destination for Kenyans, with 7,000 recruited in 2024 alone, and raising the total number of Kenyans working in the Gulf nation to 75,000.

“Since 2024, Qatar has employed 7,000 Kenyans, bringing the total to 75,000. I urged the Ambassador to expand these opportunities, including roles for Kiswahili teachers. Notably, Qatar recently recruited 200 Kenyans into its National Police Force, ranging from Form 4 leavers to university graduates. I also emphasized the need for collaboration in media operations and capacity building.” Musalia said.

 Mudavadi urged the Qatari government to widen this scope by incorporating Kiswahili teachers into its education sector, recognizing the growing global significance of the language.

Qatar recently recruited 200 Kenyan nationals into its National Police Force, a milestone that includes candidates ranging from Form 4 leavers to university graduates.

Mudavadi emphasized the importance of strengthening such partnerships, particularly in security training, media operations, and capacity building.

The discussions touched on trade and investment collaborations.

Mudavadi extended an invitation to Qatari business leaders to participate in the upcoming World.

Chambers Congress set to take place in Nairobi from April 9 to 11, 2025. This historic event—the first to be held in Africa in the Federation’s 75-year history—presents a prime opportunity for Qatar to explore Kenya’s vibrant business landscape.

The meeting also emphasized on diplomatic engagements, with both parties agreeing to shift the upcoming Foreign Ministerial  Meeting from Nairobi to Doha in  November 2025, further cementing bilateral ties.

Also present at the meeting was Mr.  Ashakur Hussein, Deputy Director-general of the Middle East Directorate at Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Kenya remains committed to deepening its cooperation with Qatar, fostering economic growth, and ensuring sustainable employment opportunities for its people.
