ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has joined Kenyans in mourning the passing of veteran journalist Leonard Mambo Mbotela, describing him as a national treasure whose voice shaped Kenya’s media industry.
In a statement, Kabogo paid tribute to Mbotela’s decades-long career, highlighting his impact through the legendary Jee Huu Ni Ungwana program that aired on KBC for 55 years.
“Leonard Mambo Mbotela was more than just a journalist; he was a mentor, a voice of wisdom, and a true patriot who used his platform to educate and inform generations. His contribution to the media industry is immeasurable,” Kabogo said.
Kabogo noted that Mbotela’s legacy will live on through the journalists he inspired and the values he instilled in society through his work.
“My heartfelt condolences go to his family, friends, and the entire media fraternity. Kenya has lost a great man. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” he added.
