Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe held a consultative meeting with Mr. Hamisi Williams, the Deputy Country Director and Head of Programs at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Kenya, at Kilimo House.
The discussions focused on strengthening the 48-year partnership between FAO and the Kenyan government, highlighting shared commitments in agricultural transformation and food security.
During the meeting, CS Kagwe expressed appreciation for FAO’s significant contributions to Kenya’s agricultural sector.
He acknowledged FAO’s role in policy alignment, capacity building, and financial support across agriculture, resource management, and policy development.
“FAO has been a key partner in transforming Kenya’s agricultural sector. Their support in policy alignment, capacity building, and resource management has significantly contributed to food security and sustainability. As we move forward, we remain committed to leveraging digital solutions and strategic partnerships to strengthen our agricultural value chains and uplift the livelihoods of our farmers.” he said.

These efforts have been instrumental in enhancing food production, promoting sustainability, and ensuring resilience in the face of climate challenges.
A key initiative highlighted in the discussions was the Kenya Integrated Agricultural Management Information System (KIAMIS), a digital platform that has registered nearly seven million farmers.
The system has streamlined access to government support, including the distribution of subsidized fertilizers through eVouchers, significantly improving agricultural productivity.
Looking ahead, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration in efforts to alleviate hunger and poverty.
They emphasized the need for continued investment in digital agricultural solutions, policy reforms, and value addition in key agricultural value chains.
