Mombasa, Kenya – Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Public Works, Housing & Urban Development, Hon. Alice Wahome, has officially opened the Annual Multi-Sectoral Agency Consultative Committee (MSACC) Retreat, focusing on safer construction practices in Kenya.
MSACC, established in 2015 to address the rising cases of building collapses, brings together stakeholders to enhance regulatory compliance, improve building standards, and foster accountability in the construction sector. This year’s retreat, themed “Multi-Sectoral Interventions for Safer Construction Practices in Kenya,” highlights the need for innovation, collaboration, and policy evaluation to prevent structural failures.
CS Wahome reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening enforcement, streamlining construction processes, and promoting transparency. A key highlight of the event was the relaunch of Ujenzi Magazine, an essential resource providing industry insights, policy updates, and best practices.

The retreat brought together key leaders, including Principal Secretary for Public Works & MSACC Chair Hon. J. Arumonyang, National Construction Authority Executive Director Eng. Maurice Akech, and Machakos Deputy Governor Hon. Francis Mwangangi.
As Kenya’s urbanization accelerates, MSACC remains vital in ensuring safer, more resilient infrastructure through collaboration and adherence to best practices.
