St. George’s University Advancing Medical Education Through Transnational Learning

Nairobi, Kenya – St. George’s University (SGU) in Grenada is shaping the future of medical education through Transnational Education (TNE), offering students a global learning experience while allowing them to study closer to home.
Since 2007, SGU has partnered with Northumbria University (NU) in the UK, enabling over 2,500 medical students to complete part of their MD program at NU before continuing their studies in Grenada. This collaboration offers aspiring doctors a diverse, hands-on learning experience across two countries.
In Fall 2024, the program saw a significant increase in enrollments from over 25 countries, including Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, India, and Canada. Graduates like Michele Obert (Class of 2019) credit the program for enhancing their global medical perspective and boosting their residency applications.
“Transnational education is expanding rapidly, and our partnership with NU has delivered outstanding results,” said David Anthonisz, Executive Director of International Student Recruitment at SGU. “We look forward to welcoming more students and helping them gain vital international experience.”
With TNE programs growing globally, SGU continues to provide world-class medical education, preparing students for successful careers in healthcare worldwide.
